Avoid mumbo-jumbo by not going to grad school.

According to the nameless purveyor of this terrific site, there are at least 100 reasons to avoid grad school. My favourite, number thirty-five, is so obviously true that it alone could suffice as a reason to skirt the abyss. The list, now comprising sixty-five good reasons, is worth reading even if you have no intention of pursuing a PhD. Academe may not be totally worthless, but it should not be entered into without a great deal of consideration.

... in the humanities and social sciences, I'll agree.

Health sciences, engineering and the pure sciences - way off. You cannot loop these two sides into the same argument for avoiding grad school.

Its a bullshit argument when you do.
